Welcome to the James Bruner TK Ranch

About Us

The Vision

T K Ranch at Sunset, Texas started in 1984 through the vision of one couple and the need of another couple to provide lifetime Christian personal care for their mentally challenged sons, step-brothers, Terry (T) and Keith (K). It began with a mobile home and an old farmhouse that was moved from Grapevine, Texas to Sunset.

Since that time two men’s dormitories have been built, one for sixteen men and one for nine men. A large house has also been purchased and remodeled as a home for ten women. The facilities are located on approximately 70 acres in rural Montague County, Texas near Sunset and Bowie.

Over the years much of our funding came from a very special lady in Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. Iris Bruner, the mother of a mentally challenged son who passed away in 1985. In honor of this lady and in remembrance of her son the “James Bruner” was added to our T K Ranch name.

Our men and women are primarily from North Texas and the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metro area but some have come from as far away as Michigan. Our purpose and function is to provide the permanent, family environment and Christian love and care for those men and women whose families, for a variety of reasons, can no longer do so.

Support Opportunities

Like what you see and what to help?  Great!  Part of what makes TK so unique is we receive no goverment funding.  This however does not make keeping up with the daily expenses as easy.  You can be an integral part of the solution to this problem.  Maybe you have a one-time donation you want to make or even better, you want to become a monthly supporter!  All you have to do is send in your donation to the address below and we will be sure to get you an acknowledgment letter for tax purposes.  If you rather help in some other way just let us know.  We can put you on our mailing list and you will periodically get information about items the dorms need or other special things you can do to help.  Also check out our list of current fundraisers below:

EmptiesforCash - This is a fundraising program in which we collect old cell phones and empty ink cartridges to send in to be recycled and raise money.  You can either drop those you collect by or mail them to the office.  So help TK and the environment!

KrogerCares Card - With this program, TK recieves 3% of the cost of your groceires that you buy at any Kroger store.  All you have to do is hand the cashier a card bearing our name prior to them scanning your items. It is as simple as that!  (Cards are accepted at most Texas locations and even some in Louisiana.)

The James-Bruner T K Ranch is a private, non-profit organization licensed by the Texas Department of Human Services as Assisted Living Facilities, (Lic.
